Sterling residents have a chance to review a proposed walking and cycling connection along Cascades Parkway. Loudoun County has scheduled a design public hearing for October 26, 2026. The project remains in design.

What is proposed

The county’s October 9 announcement describes a west-side shared-use path between Victoria Station Drive and Nokes Boulevard, plus an east-side sidewalk between Loudoun Park Lane and Potomac View Road. Pedestrian signals and drainage improvements are included.

How to participate

The hearing is Monday, October 26, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Park View High School cafeteria, 400 W. Laurel Avenue, Sterling. Written online feedback is accepted through November 6. Use the county project page for exhibits and the comment form.

What the schedule actually means

The county’s program table lists this segment in design, with FY2027 as the estimated completion of that phase. That is not a promised opening date. The same page lists other Cascades Parkway projects, so match the endpoints before comparing schedules.

Questions worth bringing to the hearing

Start with a trip you actually want to make. Where would you enter the path, which side of the road would you need, and where would you cross? Trace the whole journey on the exhibits rather than assuming a new segment completes every connection.

  • Ask how driveways and intersections interact with the proposed route.
  • Identify the crossing you find hardest to use and explain when you use it.
  • Ask how the design connects to existing sidewalks at each end.
  • Ask what steps remain before construction and how future updates will be shared.

These are suggested review questions, not findings of a defect in the design. A specific location and a clear explanation of your routine can make your feedback more useful.

What buyers should check today

A planned connection can be worth following when comparing Sterling homes. For a purchase decision, test the routes that exist now. Check the actual walking trip from the property, not just its distance from a line on a map. Keep your current needs separate from improvements still being designed.

Tell the Chris Colgan Team where you commute and which everyday destinations you want to reach. We can help compare homes around those priorities. Contact the team or call/text 571-437-7575. If you are considering selling, start with a home-value evaluation.

Five useful questions

Is this path already open?

No. This announcement concerns a design-stage project and public hearing.

Do I have to attend to comment?

No. The county also provides an online form with a November 6 deadline.

Is FY2027 a construction completion date?

No. The program table labels it as the estimated completion of the current design phase.

Where do I find the route drawings?

Use the exhibits linked on Loudoun’s Sidewalk and Trail Program page. Check the project endpoints so you select the right segment.

How do I request meeting assistance?

Contact Transportation and Capital Infrastructure at 703-737-8624. The announcement requests three business days’ notice for disability accommodations or language assistance.
