Frying Pan Farm Park’s fall harvest weekend runs October 16–18, 2026. The useful planning detail: the farm programs and carnival have different hours, so choose your activity before choosing your arrival time.

The schedule at a glance

  • Friday, October 16: Big Truck Night, 5–7 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday, October 17–18: Farm Harvest Days, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
  • Carnival: Friday, 5–9 p.m.; Saturday, from 11 a.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m.–6 p.m.

The county’s events calendar separates these programs. Farm Harvest Days includes livestock, demonstrations and hands-on activities; the carnival offers rides and midway attractions.

Saturday closing time needs a double-check: Fairfax County lists 9 p.m., while Cole Shows lists 10 p.m. Confirm with the organizer before planning a late arrival.

Plan the cost before the trip

The official harvest event page lists $10 per vehicle and a separate carnival-wristband link. Do not assume that vehicle fee includes rides. Cole Shows lists advance unlimited-ride wristbands at $22 per person through October 16 at 5 p.m., plus an online convenience fee. They cover one Friday or Sunday session; the operator says no Saturday wristband is offered. Review current ticket terms and ride restrictions before purchasing.

Make it a neighborhood scouting day

If you are considering a move around Herndon, use the outing to test an actual route from a neighborhood on your shortlist. A pleasant weekend visit answers a different question from a weekday commute. Try both before deciding what “convenient” means for your household.

Keep the first visit simple: choose the activity that matters most, leave room for a meal break, and check the forecast and organizer updates before leaving. Avoid building a schedule around an assumed ride package or an unverified parking arrangement.

Five practical questions

Where should I navigate?

The event listing gives 2709 West Ox Road, Herndon, VA 20171. Follow event-day directions when you arrive.

Can I arrive late afternoon for the farm activities?

Those sessions end at 3 p.m. on October 17 and 18; the carnival runs later.

Does the county’s registration message mean it is sold out?

The page currently says it is not accepting registrations, but separately links to carnival wristbands. That alone does not establish a sellout. Ask the park at 703-437-9101 if the booking information is unclear.

Is this Halloween on the Farm?

No. The calendar lists Halloween on the Farm separately on October 23 and 24. Check that program’s own registration and session details.

How can I compare nearby neighborhoods?

Start with your budget, work destinations and the places you use weekly. Tour homes and test those routes rather than judging the area only during a special event.
